Austenitic stainless steel alloys, including grade 316, tend to have excellent ductility, so they can be formed into unusual shapes. However, manufacturers use lower carbon versions of this alloy to improve its weldability. However, in the case of ASTM A270 tp316l, specification ASTM A270 does not include prerequisites for welding.
